About Me
Meet Stephanie!
Hi! I’m Stephanie!
If you’re struggling with anxiety, I’m glad you’re here. You’re probably curious about me, and how I can help you. Let me share a little about myself and what it’s like to work with me!
First of all, it’s important to me that you feel heard. I like really getting to know your history and what’s brought you to where you’re at. I’ll ask about your history, what anxiety looks and feels like for you, and how it has been affecting you. Then, we’ll talk about how you want your life to look. This lets me know what we’re working towards; I’m here to help you meet your goals.
Then, pretty quickly we’ll jump in. Working with me is much more than learning basic coping skills and “sleep hygiene” you might read about online. Together we’ll reshape the way you see things and we’ll take some big steps towards change, but at a pace that works for you. I give homework at times, to help take the things we’re working on in session into your everyday life where things really matter.
I received my MSW at the University of Illinois at Chicago, and I’m a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. I’m trained in some pretty effective treatments, and utilize what I have seen to improve anxiety the most. These include ACT (Acceptance and Commitment Therapy), a variety of exposure therapies (Exposure and Response Prevention/ERP, Prolonged Exposure), and CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy). For insomnia, I’m trained in and utilize CBT-I (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Insomnia).
A little about me personally - I chose social work because I’m passionate about social justice, about meeting people where they are at, and I recognize that the way you identify and the systems you’re apart of greatly impact you each day. I live in the area, I’m a mom, and I like to crochet, bake, and go on walks!
